Gear Up for the New Year with New Period Indicator

Preparing for the new year in SAP Business One is a sure way to start off the year on the right foot. Ensuring that accounting and financial criteria are adjusted for the change in year is essential in maintaining accuracy of bookkeeping and transactions. SAP Business One provides users with the tools and functionality to ensure balance throughout the year.

In today’s post, learn how to setup a new Period Indicator in SAP Business One which will specify the upcoming fiscal year for any future documents processed and posted throughout the new year.

To begin the setup process, simply define the upcoming period by typing it into the system as shown with the highlighted ‘2023’ below.

Once the new period has been added to the list and defined, the next step will be to assign the new period indicator to its relative posting periods as well as its numbering series which is demonstrated below.

The “Display Series Linked to Selected Period(s) Indicator” menu, allows you to filter the list of numbering series by the respective selected posting period. A note to keep in mind is that that assigning period indicator is not supported by numbering series of business partners, items, and resources.
